The Washington DC area.

I don't because I'm in the burbs of a large city so I'm used to the differences in settings you see as you move in closer to the city as opposed to being in the burbs.

I haven't met any of them in person, but do communicate via email with some of them from time to time.
Since I've never even been to CA, I don't use a lot of geographic references. The ones I do include require that I do some research first. Thankfully, I have the site's producers/managers/etc, etc (those two do it all for this site! They're incredible!!) to help me out and to answer my questions. There are times when I want to include things like weather, locations, traffic patterns, etc but just can't. All in all, I think it would help to include those tidbits for the purpose of realism.
