That's quite an amazing story! The closest I ever got to "greatness" was seeing one of my drumming idols, Buddy Rich, perform at a nightclub in my hometown. He was once the drummer for the band on Johnny Carson. I was about 13 years old, and met the guy's bus driver in the lobby, who let me step inside Buddy Rich's tour bus. To me at the time, it was like being allowed to look into Michael Jordan's refrigerator (granted, that may not be a pretty sight).
