Transcript of 24th Session between Charles Balis, M.D. and Ms. Christina Herald, Thursday, November 20, 1997 at 5:00 pm.

Dr. Balis: Come on in, Chris. Sorry I kept you waiting.
Ms. Herald: That's okay. Tough session, was it?
Dr. Balis: It's okay. Oh, is this my kitten?
Ms. Herald: Yup, you can go ahead and borrow my cat carrier to get her home and stuff like that. I'll just pick it up next week. There you go, come on out, Miss Kitty.
Dr. Balis: She's gotten bigger.
Ms. Herald: There's a cute little quote I read somewhere: "The trouble with a kitten is that eventually it becomes a cat."
Dr. Balis: Thank you for bringing her. Now, I don't want to spend the whole hour talking about cat care again; I picked up a couple of books on the subject and should be able to do well enough. I know you called and said that you wanted to skip this session, but I have to ask, is something troubling you, Chris?
Ms. Herald: What makes you say that?
Dr. Balis: You have that look to you. You usually have very expressive eyes, and right now they are rather--pardon the expression--dull. It's the "Chris hasn't slept in days" look.
Ms. Herald: Well, I slept...sort of. I closed my eyes for periods of time.
Dr. Balis: You want to tell me about it?
Ms. Herald: I'd love to, but I can't. Not now. I'm afraid I have to roll out. I really just came to drop your new friend by and wish you good luck. There's a surprise retirement party for Dad being planned, and I've been recruited for the planning. Sarah's working her tail off on this thing; it promises to be quite the event. But she needs a break, and she trusts me to see that nothing goes south while she's getting a little work done.
Dr. Balis: Are you sure you want to skip a session?
Ms. Herald: Yeah, I really can't stay, but thanks. I'll live till next week.
Dr. Balis: Next week is Thanksgiving. I'll be out of town. So it will have to be two weeks.
Ms. Herald: That's okay. I promise that if I start having a nervous breakdown, I'll let you know. In the meantime, I really have to get rolling. Don't worry, okay? I'll be fine. It's really not too big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
Dr. Balis: All right. Thank you for loaning me the kitty carrier.
Ms. Herald: No problem. Goodbye, Portia. You take care of him, okay?
Dr. Balis: I will. Take care of yourself, Chris. And thank you.
Ms. Herald: Have a good Thanksgiving, Doctor.
Dr. Balis: Thanks, you too.
